Tamaqua Borough contracts with Tamaqua Transfer for collection of refuse and recyclables. Questions may be directed to them at 570.668.4515.
Allowed Refuse:
Maximum 6 bags or containers not to exceed 50 pounds each, one bulky item not to exceed 275 pounds, and all ashes

- No appliances with CFCs (refrigerators or A/C units), asbestos, tires, or electronics.
- No hazardous waste, batteries, paints and oils.

Tuesday: North Ward
Wednesday: Recycling for the entire Borough
Thursday: East End and Owl Creek
Friday: Dutch Hill

No sorting or separating required!
(single stream recycling) Tamaqua Transfer does NOT provide recycling containers. Recycling can be put on the curb in an open bin or crate. Bags will not be accepted.

White envelopes
Computer, fax and copy paper
Kraft paper (brown grocery bags)
Magazines and catalogs
Chipboard/box board
Notebook paper
White and colored ledger paper
Newspaper
Paper egg cartons
Soft covered workbooks, phone books, and paperback books
Juice boxes
Junk mail (including envelopes and coupons)
Milk cartons
Glass bottles (green, clear, and brown)
Tin and bi-metallic containers, including aerosol cans
Frozen food cartons
Milk and juice cartons
Aluminum foil and foil pans
Construction paper
Plastic Containers, (No. 1 through 7) --- no plastic toys and other items
Shredded paper: put in a paper bag or in a clear plastic bag
Keep it in the recycling container

No caps from plastic bottles
Styrofoam
Yard waste and compost
Drinking glass
Broken window glass
Mirrors
Paper towels and napkins
Plastic six-pack holders
Hoses, ropes, wire, chain, or cable
Hard cover books
Plastic bags
Light bulbs
Note: Trash that is placed in a County Waste recycling container will not be picked up. The containers are the property of County Waste. If you still have a container, please call the Borough at 570.668.0300 so County Waste can be notificed to pick up the empty container as their contract with the Borough expired at the beginning of July 2019.
